Somalia’s agricultural and pastoral communities face growing environmental challenges, including recurrent droughts, land degradation, soil erosion, desertification and unpredictable rainfall. These challenges threaten food production, livestock, household incomes and the natural resources on which communities depend. One promising approach to addressing these challenges is agroforestry the intentional integration of trees and shrubs with crops and livestock within agricultural and pastoral systems. The world is grappling with the urgent challenge of mitigating climate change, a global crisis that continues to claim lives and threaten biodiversity and ecosystems. Somalia is among the countries most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. The country is experiencing severe consequences that have significantly affected livelihoods, economic productivity, and national development. Despite the growing severity of these challenges, there remains limited awareness and insufficient coordinated action to prevent and mitigate the effects of climate change.
